The Information Department is responsible for handling applications from foreign journalists to interview Chinese state leaders.

i. To interview Chinese state leaders, resident foreign journalists should submit their interview applications to the Information Department at least three weeks in advance. The application should include the journalist's name, position, the media organization he/she represents, the leader he intends to interview and an outline of the questions to be raised.

ii. Foreign Journalists for short-term news coverage wishing to interview a state leader should file applications to the Information Department directly or through Chinese embassies or consulates overseas.

iii. Foreign journalists who wish to cover the important international visits by Chinese leaders may inquire and leave their contact information in advance to the relevant officials of the Information Department. During the visits, the Information Department will try to facilitate the journalists' news coverage and brief those in company about the visits according to the specific circumstances.
