Renting or Purchasing Property and Offices

Permanent offices of foreign media organizations and resident foreign journalists based in Beijing may purchase or rent residences and offices in the 18 districts and counties of Beijing. When doing so, they should abide by the "Regulations on City House Renting of PRC" and the "Regulations of the Urban Real Estate Transfer of the Beijing Municipality".

According to the current regulations on renting and purchasing of residences and offices for foreigners in China, when permanent offices of foreign media organizations and resident foreign journalists in Beijing deal with the renting or purchasing procedures, both parties (lease-holder and tenant, purchaser and seller) should get the approval from the Beijing Foreign-related Construction Project Examination Office before signing the contract.

After renting or purchasing commercial residences or offices, the permanent offices of foreign media organizations and resident foreign journalists based in Beijing are requested to notify the IPC in written form and go through necessary procedures with the new leasing or purchasing contracts to obtain resident permits at the Division of Exit-Entry Administration of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau according to the Law of the People's Republic of China on Control of the Entry and Exit of Aliens and the Implementing Rules. When you move into the new residences or offices, a registration should be made at the local police office. The IPC should be notified of any change of the residences or office address in written form.
