Conducting News Coverage and Reporting Activities around China

Local FAOs will facilitate and support foreign journalists conducting news coverage and reporting activities in their jurisdictions. Foreign journalists may require Local FAOs to help contact the organizations or individuals they intend to interview.

i. To interview leaders of local governments of China, foreign journalists should apply to the local FAOs.

Ii. To conduct news coverage and reporting activities in places which are open to foreigners, foreign journalists do not need to apply to the local FAOs.

iii. To conduct news coverage and reporting activities in places which are not open to foreigners or have special requirements, foreign journalists should apply to the relevant local FAOs and specify their reporting plans in advance. They may proceed with news coverage and reporting only after they have obtained approval from the local FAOs and trvavel documents from the local public security authorities.

iv. Foreign journalists wishing to conduct news coverage and reporting activities in Tibet Autonomous Region should apply to the FAO of Tibet Autonomous Region for the Approval Letter on Entering Tibet first. Only with the approval letter can they go to Tibet to make interviews and reporting.
